In An Historic Arrest, Donald Trump Has Surrendered

Donald Trump was detained on April 4 in New York City after submitting to the district attorney’s office. With this unexpected arrest, Trump becomes the first President of the United States to face serious criminal accusations.

This comes after a grand jury decided on March 30 to indict him. Nonetheless, the charges were initially kept hidden. According to Truth Society, Trump declared in response to the grand jury vote, “This is an attack on our country like we’ve never seen before.”

Though his timing was off, the 45th President of the United States predicted his doom in a prior post on his contentious social media platform on March 18.

Trump’s claims center on a $130,000 hush payment made to Stormy Daniels in 2016. Daniels stated under oath that she was paid in exchange for signing an NDA prohibiting her from disclosing her alleged affair with Trump in 2006, before the election.

Despite the fact that his attorney, Michael Cohen, testified against him at his grand jury hearing on March 15, he has adamantly denied the affair and charges that he instigated the payment. Before approaching the courtroom, Trump, of course, had something to say about his arrest.

On April 4, before his arraignment hearing, Donald Trump appeared at the district attorney’s office. Upon entering the courthouse, Trump said on Truth Social that the experience had been “surreal,” adding, “OMG, they are going to ARREST ME.” I can’t believe this is happening in America!”

Given the exceptional circumstances surrounding Trump’s detention, it is unclear whether he will be treated differently. He will, however, be subjected to the usual booking procedure, which includes fingerprinting, as will everyone else.

In true Trump fashion, he was not going quietly. Trump sent a passionate rallying appeal to his committed fans on March 18, following the announcement of his impending detention.

On Truth Social, he wrote, “Protest, take back our nation!” Marjorie Taylor Greene and George Santos, both notorious Republicans, appeared to have joined Trump’s throngs of supporters on the streets of New York City before of Trump’s arraignment.

These claims are just the tip of the iceberg for the former president, who is the subject of numerous ongoing criminal investigations, including one for inciting violence during the January 6 Capitol riots.
