After Jocelyn Wildenstein’s death, her partner Lloyd Klein is speaking out.
The Swiss socialite died on Dec. 31 at the age of 84. Wildenstein was best known for many extreme plastic surgeries.
According to Klein, Wildenstein died while taking a nap.
“We had a nice happy hour the same night and we were getting ready for the new year, and we took a little nap just to look good before getting dressed,” he told People.
Klein told People that Wildensten had phlebitis.
Aurora Health Care says that “phlebitis, or thrombophlebitis, is an inflammation that causes a blood clot to form in a vein, usually in your leg. When it affects a vein close to your skin’s surface, it’s called superficial phlebitis. When it affects a deeper vein, it’s called deep vein thrombosis.”
“Because of her phlebitis, the legs were very, very swollen, and the blood was blocked, and there was no oxygen in the brain,” Klein continued telling People. “And we were having a nap and when I wake up, I said, ‘Jocelyn, we have to wake up, we have to get dressed,’ and she was cold and she was dead.”
“It’s very sad. It’s extremely sad,” he added. “It’s extremely sad to lay down with your other half that I know for 21 years and waiting to celebrate New Year’s Eve and to find her cold.”
Klein sad the days leading up to Wildenstein’s death were “perfect” and “beautiful.”
“We were at the Ritz two days ago. We were having dinner. Before that, we had come for Fashion Week at Chanel. Everything was good, everything was good.”
Klein went as far as to say she was in “great shape” over the holidays.
He said Wildenstein died “at the top of our game.”
