Katharine McPhee’s Son’s Nanny’s Tragic Cause of Death Revealed

Last week, American Idol star Katharine McPhee took to her social media pages to apologize to those who were preparing to watch her perform life.

In her statement, she admitted that she needed to step away from the stage and return home after experiencing a family tragedy. It has since been reported that their son’s nanny, Yadira Calito, had passed away while they were traveling.

Now, details of Calito’s tragic passing are coming to light. According to TMZ, Calito was involved in the tragic accident that occurred at a San Fernando Valley car dealership.

As reports revealed, an elderly woman at the Toyota dealership crashed her car through the customer service reception area, hitting Calito with the SUV, pinning her underneath the vehicle, and dragging her about 20 feet.

Calito was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries hours later.

Police say the elderly woman was trying to get her car to the service area when she accidentally hit the gas instead of the break. The driver was not arrested, TMZ reports.

McPhee left her and her husband, David Foster’s Asia tour to be with Calito’s family. She wrote, “It’s with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final 2 shows of our Asia run. David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family.”“Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all,” she wrote on Instagram. This is the only time McPhee has shared a statement regarding the tragedy.

McPhee and Foster viewed their son’s nanny as family. Calito is seen in several of their Instagram posts over the last two years. Including this one of their son playing the drums:

Our hearts break for Calito and her loved ones.
