Keith Urban Shares His Side Amidst Divorce Rumors with Nicole Kidman

Recently, whispers of a divorce between Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman have been making rounds, primarily because of a subtle yet significant change Urban made to a song lyric during one of his performances. This has prompted him to address these speculations directly.

As a beloved couple in the entertainment industry, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman had a marriage that lasted almost two decades. They were admired and looked up to by many as a strong and steady power duo. Hence, the news of their split came as a big surprise to fans and followers worldwide.

According to reports, the separation took place earlier in the summer months. However, it became official when Nicole filed for divorce on September 30, citing โ€˜irreconcilable differencesโ€™ in court documents lodged in Tennessee. Itโ€™s been said that Nicole was hesitant to take this step, but felt it was necessary.

One of the early indications that not everything was smooth sailing in their marriage came when Keith Urban altered a lyric during a concert. He was performing his song โ€˜The Fighterโ€™ and instead of the usual line, โ€œWhen theyโ€™re tryna get to you, baby, Iโ€™ll be the fighter,โ€ he sang, โ€œWhen theyโ€™re trynaโ€™ get to you, Maggie, Iโ€™ll be your guitar player.โ€

He was apparently referencing his guitarist, Maggie Baugh, who marked the moment on her Instagram by posting a video with the caption, โ€œDid he just say that?โ€ Fans had mixed feelings about this change, especially since the song was reportedly inspired by his relationship with Nicole.

However, Keith Urban is now enlightening fans that this isnโ€™t the first occasion he has modified his performance lyrics, encouraging listeners not to jump to conclusions based on these changes.

At his Nashville concert, the concluding event of his High and Alive World Tour, Keith took a moment to address these rumors before singing โ€˜Youโ€™ll Think Of Me.โ€™

โ€œIโ€™ve been performing it this way for a long time,โ€ he mentioned, noting another instance where he altered lyrics to โ€œbut I betchaโ€™ think about meโ€ from the original โ€œbut youโ€™ll think of me.โ€

PEOPLE magazine has also highlighted that this behavior of changing lyrics is not new for Urban. Back in 2017, he sang a different version of โ€˜The Fighterโ€™ alongside Carrie Underwood at the CMT Music Awards, singing, โ€œCarrie Underwood, Iโ€™m gonna be your fighter!โ€

โ€˜The Fighterโ€™ has sentimental value, as it was penned during the early phases of Keith and Nicole’s relationship. In an interview from 2017, Urban explained, โ€œIt is from a talk my wife and I had early on. During tough times, I wanted to hold her tight and care for her.โ€
