King Charles III was briefly hospitalized on Thursday due to temporary side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment, Buckingham Palace confirmed.
The 76-year-old monarch underwent a scheduled medical procedure earlier that morning as part of his continued care. Following the treatment, he experienced minor complications that required a short hospital stay for observation.

After being monitored for a brief period, King Charles was discharged and has since returned to Clarence House, his residence in London.
Due to the hospitalization, King Charles’s scheduled engagements for Thursday afternoon and Friday were postponed.
“His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” the palace said in a statement per GMA.
Charles was initially hospitalized in January 2024 for a planned procedure to treat an enlarged prostate. During his stay, an undisclosed form of cancer was detected, and his treatment began on February 5. He subsequently canceled all in-person engagements and resumed his public duties in April 2024, starting with a visit to a cancer hospital in London alongside his wife, Queen Camilla.
King Charles has remained optimistic throughout his cancer treatment, consistently expressing appreciation for the care and support provided by his medical team. His decision to be transparent about his diagnosis marks a notable shift from the royal family’s historically private approach to health matters—an effort aimed at curbing speculation and encouraging greater public awareness.

As of March 2025, the King is still undergoing treatment but continues to fulfill his royal duties, demonstrating both resilience and unwavering commitment to his role.
Charles was the longest-serving heir to the throne in British history during his tenure as Prince of Wales. He ascended to the throne on September 8, 2022, following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
In January, Kate, the Princess of Wales, spent nearly two weeks in the hospital recovering from abdominal surgery. While initial tests showed no signs of cancer, subsequent examinations revealed the presence of cancer. She shared this news in a recorded video statement, marking her first public acknowledgment of her health challenges and addressing the mounting speculation surrounding her condition.
Prince William described 2024 as a “brutal” year, as both his wife and father announced their cancer diagnoses.
