LeAnn Rimes Reveals “Heart-Wrenching” Family Struggles During Anniversary

LeAnn Rimes called Eddie Cibrian her emotional lifeline as they marked their 15th wedding anniversary, but hinted at “heart-wrenching” struggles behind the scenes. The Grammy-winning singer, who rose to fame as a teen with “Blue,” has long been open about personal challenges, and her latest comments suggest the couple is facing difficult moments at home despite their enduring relationship.

In a recent Instagram post, she wrote, “we got to step away for 3 days amidst work and some very tense, heart wrenching things happening at home with family. it’s been a different anniversary, one filled with tears and worry, but in between, there were moments of laughter and deep gratitude for this love of ours. day by day, we walk hand in hand through the rollercoaster of life… and god, i’m so grateful that it’s with each other. we’ve been through so much in our 15 years as husband and wife. we know how to ride the waves 🌊, hold each other in times of need, mend what needs mending. i’m so proud of what we have created together. 15 years is just the beginning. 🤍 #hallelujah #happyanniversary❤️ #cabo

Although LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian faced intense public scrutiny after meeting on the set of the 2009 film Northern Lights while both were married to other people, she previously told E! News that they have “evolved so much” as a couple in the years since.

At the time, LeAnn Rimes had been married to chef Dean Sheremet for six years, while Eddie Cibrian was married to Brandi Glanville, according to Page Six.

Rumors of an affair between LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian surfaced in 2009, which he initially denied, calling the claims “fabricated.” However, by mid-2009, both had separated from their spouses—Rimes from Dean Sheremet and Cibrian from Brandi Glanville—and soon went public with their relationship.

Cibrian, who shares two sons with Glanville, finalized his divorce in 2010, while Rimes’ divorce was completed in late 2009. The couple got engaged in 2010 and married in 2011. Despite early tensions—Glanville once admitted she reacted angrily upon learning of the relationship—the women have since reached a better place.

Looking back, Rimes said the scandal was chaotic and left her feeling like a “target,” though it also helped her understand the pain experienced by other women.

“We’ve been through so much together,” she told E! News in February. “Now our boys, my stepsons [Mason and Jake] are 22 and 18. They’re grown boys. And to help raise his sons—we have a very calm life, which is wonderful. And it didn’t start out that way at all, but now, we’ve really grown into—we just love each other.”

“[We] know each other so well, and he’s so supportive of me,” LeAnn continued. “We come first before anything, and we always make sure that that’s the case.”

She concluded,  “We love being around each other. We laugh a lot. And he’s just a good guy. He really is. So, 15 years is wild, to think that it’s been that long. But so far, so good.”
