Martina Navratilova Suggests Donald Trump is Jealous After US Open Appearance

Remarkable US Open Final: Trump’s Presence Noted Alongside Alcarazโ€™s Victory

Martina Navratilova, known for her impressive career in tennis with 18 Grand Slam titles, recently expressed her disapproval towards Donald Trump, hinting he might be feeling a tad envious during his visit to the US Open final.

Trump attended the thrilling match at Flushing Meadows where Carlos Alcaraz bested Jannik Sinner, last year’s champion, in a match that stretched across four sets with scores of 6-2 3-6 6-1 6-4, marking Alcaraz’s sixth Grand Slam win.

The start of this exciting final was delayed by about 30 minutes due to heightened security checks attributed to Trumpโ€™s attendance.

Upon his arrival at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Trump received mixed reactions, with both boos and cheers filling the venue.

Trump’s appearance made him the first sitting U.S. president to be present at the tournament since Bill Clinton’s visit in 2000.

During the rendition of the American national anthem, โ€˜The Star-Spangled Banner,โ€™ there was a renewed chorus of boos when Trump was shown on the large screen.

Amidst the spectators were notable figures such as Manchester Cityโ€™s manager Pep Guardiola, basketball star Steph Curry, and famed actor Danny DeVito, enjoying the match in the stands.

Carlos Alcaraz reflected positively on the encouragement from world leaders, describing it as a โ€œprivilegeโ€ and noted it was โ€œgreat for tennisโ€.

However, not everyone was thrilled to see Trump, including Martina Navratilova, who has been vocal in her opinions. The retired Czech tennis star pointed out that Trump remained passive and did not applaud after Alcaraz clinched his victory.

Navratilova took to platform X and remarked, โ€œNever saw Trump clap. Not once. He is so jealous!!! And when the whole place erupted, clapping for Bruce Springsteen while playing Born in the USA it was magical!!!โ€

Bruce Springsteen has been open about his opposition to Trumpโ€™s policies and frequently uses his concerts as platforms to discuss his concerns about American politics.

In addition, a video emerged of Trump autographing what were identified as red โ€˜Make America Great Againโ€™ hats. American diplomat Monica Crowley commented on the post stating, โ€œThere will never be another like him,โ€ with Navratilova responding, โ€œHere is hoping.โ€

Recently, Trump has been seen leveraging prominent sporting events to possibly boost his public profile. He was also present during Chelsea’s triumph over Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup final held in New Jersey in July.

At that event, beyond being a spectator, Trump graced the podium along with Chelsea captain Reece James as the team celebrated their win, shortly before FIFA president Gianni Infantino tactfully asked him to step down.

With the World Cup finals planned to be hosted jointly by the US, Mexico, and Canada next summer, itโ€™s anticipated that Trump will again be a visible figure during the event.
