Following Inauguration Day a month ago, Melania Trump has largely stayed out of the public’s view. She joined her husband, President Donald Trump, on a visit to Los Angeles during the terrible wildfires, where she was noted for her empathetic demeanor towards the victims. However, other than this, she has made minimal public appearances, prompting speculation about her whereabouts, a topic that has repeatedly emerged over the years.

Melania has mentioned that her role as First Lady in the second term will be different. Unlike before, she has decided not to reside full-time at the White House and now, new insights reveal how she spends her daily life. It seems that she doesn’t spend much of her time in politics.
When Donald Trump secured the 2024 Presidential Election, Melania was clear about her role during her second stint at the White House. In recent years, she has mostly remained out of the limelight, concentrating on caring for and supporting their son, Barron.
Barron has returned to New York, his hometown, and is pursuing his studies at Stern Business School, New York University. While Melania is committed to her responsibilities as First Lady, she won’t be residing in Washington D.C. on a full-time basis.
“I’ll be in the White House. When I need to be in New York, I’ll be in New York. Should the need arise for me to be in Palm Beach, I’ll be there. But my top priority is, you know, being a mother, a first lady, a wife. And come January 20, we serve the country,” Melania stated in an interview with Fox News.
She was present with her husband on Election Day and stood by his side during Inauguration Day. Yet, apart from that, Melania, as the First Lady of the United States, has been scarcely visible.
Melania has truly embraced America since her arrival in the 1990s, but she hasn’t forgotten her Slovenian roots. Last month, both she and Donald traveled to Los Angeles to meet Governor Gavin Newsom and discuss ways to rebuild the devastated areas struck by the wildfires.
Melania Trump Praised for Speaking Slovenian to Wildfire Victim
On social media platform X, a 30-second clip was shared, showcasing Melania comforting wildfire victims, including a moment where she conversed with a woman in Slovenian. Many on social media lauded the First Lady for her kind approach and for using her native tongue to connect with people.
“Seeing Melania more involved this time around is amazing,” commented one user, according to the Daily Mail. “Speaking to people in their native language makes them feel heard and valued! What an incredible First Lady,” another user remarked.
The First Lady chose not to attend the Super Bowl in New Orleans with her husband and is said to have spent considerable time in Florida since Trump assumed office. As First Lady, one might have expected Melania to be present at the White House as Donald Trump welcomed various world leaders at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
As reported by CNN, guests such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were all welcomed by Donald, while Melania’s presence was absent. She also missed attending when Trump signed executive orders at the Oval Office and when he greeted women’s sports teams following their victories.
Where is Melania Trump?
The activities of Melania have been somewhat veiled from the public, which has fueled speculation. A source speaking to People Magazine revealed that Melania has lately been occupied with filming for her Amazon documentary.
The political source shared with the magazine that her absence from the public eye during Trump’s initial month in office “isn’t surprising as this is how she prefers to live.” The source further stated that Melania “will never conform to the traditional role of a first lady” and carries her own vision of her duties.
Furthermore, the magazine highlighted that the First Lady “has been busy advancing her own projects, often while at the White House.”
“Melania has been engrossed in shooting for her documentary, sometimes at the White House,” a political source from Miami informed People.
Amazon confirmed on January 6 that filming had commenced on a new behind-the-scenes feature about Melania. In addition to the documentary, which is slated for theatrical release later this year, there is also a follow-up documentary series reportedly in the works.
According to Puck News, multiple sources privy to the project suggested it’s a $40 million licensing deal. Filming initiated in December 2024, with plans to release it both in theaters and on the streaming service by mid-2025.
“Prime Video will provide additional project details as filming progresses and release plans are finalized,” Amazon expressed in a statement. “We are thrilled to share this extraordinary story with viewers across the globe.”
Melania Trump Set to Star in New Documentary
“I envisioned making a film, crafting a story about my life. My life is incredibly active, and I conveyed this idea to my agent with hopes of securing a deal. We embarked on production in November and are currently filming. The film will showcase my daily life, shedding light on what responsibilities I hold, which is something people aren’t truly aware of. They’ll see it,” Melania explained to Fox.
“It encapsulates everything from forming the transition team to settling into the White House, organizing my team, establishing the First Lady’s office, and transitioning the residence into our home. It entails hiring the necessary staff,” she mentioned.
She also addressed her move back to the White House, noting this time would differ as she’s familiar with the process now.
“Plans are in place; I can move in swiftly, having already packed and selected the needed furnishings, hence this time is distinct, a second-time transition,” she said. “On January 20, the transition team only gets five hours to move the Bidens out and us in, so meticulous planning is essential.”
“I’m Standing on My Own Two Feet”
Upon initially becoming First Lady in 2016, there were concerns about her preparedness for the role. Melania told Fox that some did not accept or understand her at first, and she did not receive much support.
“Perhaps some view me merely as the president’s wife, but I stand independently. I have my thoughts, my stances. I don’t always concur with my husband, and that’s perfectly fine,” Melania added.
Despite being away from Washington and its spotlight for quite some time, she has returned to the White House. CNN reports the First Lady attended the Governors Ball last weekend, leaving many anticipating her next public appearance.
Over the past month, her time has been divided between the Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach and the White House. Yet, a People Magazine source suggests Melania hasn’t engaged in any formal First Lady duties in the capital.
“Donald and Melania both reside at Mar-a-Lago and keep quarters at the White House,” said the source. “However, she leads an independent life, joining him when suitable at either location,” noting that in Palm Beach, she usually stays low-key but joins Donald for dinner occasionally.
Melania Trump to “Improve” Donald Trump’s Diet at the White House
During her initial term at the White House, Melania dedicated considerable effort to her Be Best campaign, which aimed to aid children in combating bullying. The Slovenian-born former model expressed to Fox in January her intent to further expand this initiative over the coming years.
“Without much backing, I invited all streaming services to the White House,” Melania mentioned. “We held a roundtable, yet the support was lacking. Consider what could be accomplished if we garnered full support, safeguarding children’s mental health and guiding them on social media awareness.”
Rumors suggest Melania has additional significant plans at the White House for the years ahead. Notorious for his less-than-healthy diet, her husband might receive some dietary guidance from her. As reported by PageSix, she plans to campaign for a healthier lifestyle during their time in Washington.
According to sources, Melania is collaborating with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to encourage the President to adopt better eating habits. Think fewer Big Macs, less KFC, and more lean protein, salads, and vegetables to boost energy and his overall health,” the source indicated.
“Famously Watches Every Bite She Takes”
Moreover, it has been suggested that Melania herself has been preparing meals to “encourage” her husband to make healthier eating choices.
“Melania is attentive to every bite she consumes… She has guided their son’s dietary habits since he was very young. Residents of Mar-a-Lago often see her heading to the spa for workouts as well as regular skincare and hair treatments,” the source added.
Yet, another Trump associate mentioned to PageSix: “Nonsense! Trump eats what he wishes.”
