As the inauguration day approaches, Melania Trump prepares for her return to the White House alongside her husband, Donald Trump, who is set to become the 47th President of the United States in January. However, this time around, she won’t be living there full-time.
During Donald Trump’s previous term, their son Barron joined them at the White House. But now, at 18 years old and enrolled in college, Barron will not be accompanying his parents this time, which is a major reason Melania will not be at the White House permanently.
Melania Trump has always been a devoted mother, dedicating her energy to support and protect Barron from the public eye. Just weeks before the inauguration, she broke her silence since the election to share an update about her son.
Following Donald Trump’s victory in the election last November, both Melania and Barron have stayed relatively out of the limelight. Melania notably chose not to accompany Donald on the campaign trail. Her return to public events wasn’t until late October when she appeared at a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden.
At the same time, Melania unveiled her memoir, “Melania,” offering insights into her life and sharing several opinions. A significant revelation was her disagreement with her husband’s stance on abortion, as she expressed support for women’s reproductive rights.
“It’s crucial that women have the freedom to make decisions about having children based on their personal beliefs, without government intervention or pressure,” Melania wrote.
Melania Trump and Donald’s Election Night Interaction
Recently, speculative rumors focused on the state of Melania and Donald’s marriage. Melania renegotiated her prenuptial agreement amidst Donald’s legal challenges last year. Her absence from his court appearances led some to speculate about their relationship.
Nevertheless, Melania and Donald’s marriage seems as solid as ever, although on election night, a body language expert suggested Melania wasn’t thrilled about Donald’s victory.
Donald took to the stage at West Palm Beach’s Palm Beach County Convention Center to celebrate his victory. Melania stood by his side, sharing a rare public affectionate moment. Donald turned to Melania, smiled, and invited her with “Come here, honey.”
They shared a hug and a kiss, but body language expert Darren Stanton felt there was reluctance on Melania’s part, indicating “no closeness.”
“When Trump looks back at Melania and invites her for a hug, she hesitantly moves forward,” Stanton noted. “It’s awkward, lacking genuine emotion, and she’s not smiling genuinely.”
He added: “One would expect more emotion after her husband has been elected president. It feels calculated, as if she’s unwilling to show genuine happiness.”
Barron Trump First-Time Voter
While Melania stood next to Donald during his victory speech, Barron captured the spotlight. Melania has shielded Barron from the media for years, nurturing him in a “tight bubble” at their Palm Beach residence, Mar-a-Lago.
Now, the youngest Trump is embarking on a new journey after his high school graduation. Barron has enrolled at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
On election day, Barron accompanied Melania to the voting booth. Proud of her son casting his vote for the first time, Melania posted a photo of him at the booth.
“Voted for the first time – for his dad!” Melania shared online. Fans responded with compliments and predictions of a future presidential career for Barron.
“Such a sharp young man!” one fan admired, while another wrote, “Future President!”
Why Melania Won’t Live Full-Time at the White House
Since Donald’s presidential win, he has given interviews, traveled to Europe, and played golf extensively. Meanwhile, Melania has opted for a more private life, leaving many curious about her plans at the White House. Sources suggest that Melania will not be a full-time resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue but will still fulfill First Lady responsibilities.
Insiders indicate that Melania will largely reside at Trump Tower in New York to remain close to Barron. She will also spend time at Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
“She has carte blanche in the East Wing,” said Kate Bennett, author of “Free, Melania.” “Melania won’t pursue her own platform as some past first ladies have,” Bennett explained.
Melania has chosen not to leverage her global recognition for a sustained platform during the gap between White House terms.
Setting Up for the Future
Bennett remarked on the chance missed by Melania to establish a lasting First Lady agenda.
According to Bennett, CNN reports that discussions about Melania’s role in the Trump administration are still ongoing. Her first notable decision has been appointing Hayley Harrison as her new Chief of Staff.
Despite Melania’s limited interest in politics, she recently told Fox that her second White House term would be different.
“This time around, I’m more experienced and knowledgeable,” Melania said. “I’ve got a clear plan based on prior experience.”
She noted how busy she is with setting up her team and organizing various aspects of the transition.
Barron’s Role in Donald’s Election Success
Donald Trump recently revealed that Barron played a crucial role in reaching younger voters through influencers and online platforms.
“He knows a lot about it. The younger generation, the technology – he connected us with influential figures,” Donald said in a UK outlet interview in September.
“They don’t watch TV like we did; they use the internet. Barron understands them,” Donald added.
Melania praised Barron in a Fox interview, admiring his intelligence and political savvy.
“He’s a grown man now. Very insightful, he advised his father well. I’m very proud of how he engaged with his generation,” Melania said.
She concluded by praising Barron for successfully guiding Donald in reaching out to the right people.
