Melania Trump Steals the Spotlight at Jimmy Carter’s Funeral

Melania Trump, soon to reprise her role as First Lady, captivated attention with her unique attire at the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter.

The gathering saw several former presidents, such as Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush pay their respects. President Biden and his wife were present too.

Donald and Melania Trump’s presence at Jimmy Carter’s valedictory service at the Washington National Cathedral last week did not go unnoticed.

Melania’s fashion choice sparked a significant buzz online, though she is no stranger to style-related controversies.

She wore a black Valentino trench coat with a striking Peter Pan-style collar featuring a “rose-kiss” print inspired by a 19th-century Auguste Rodin sculpture.

This artistic print originally appeared in Valentino’s fall 2019 collection, as reported by Women’s Wear Daily.

Reactions varied as some praised her outfit while others criticized her usual style.

“This time, Melania’s black dress fits the occasion,” remarked one observer.

“Looks like she just disembarked from the Mayflower,” another quipped.

With grace and flair, she combines art, fashion, Italian design, and Rodin’s creations in a touching homage to love.

Others joked, “Did a nun’s store have a sale?” as per the Daily Beast.

“Melania looks like she’s in a pilgrim costume,” some noted, while others added, “This marks the start of four more years of ‘What on earth is Melania wearing?’”

Another spectator pondered, “Did Melania just come from cleaning the bathroom?”

Melania has been subject to public scrutiny over her wardrobe in the past.

In 2017, during the G7 summit in Sicily, her decision to wear a $51,000 Dolce and Gabbana floral coat sparked debate, with USA Today noting it matched an average American household’s yearly income.

Stephanie Grisham, former White House press secretary and author of “I’ll Take Your Questions Now,” recounted an incident where Trump was upset over Melania’s so-called “mistake.” This was in reference to the divisive “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” jacket she wore en route to a migrant facility in Texas.

Despite Melania’s attempts at aiding her husband’s administration’s image, her jacket choice inadvertently heightened issues, eventually leading to her program’s termination.

Another notable observation was Melania’s somber demeanor, perhaps due to the memorial coinciding with the anniversary of her mother Amalija Knavs’s passing.

Amalija, who left behind a cherished legacy, died last year at 78.
