Michelle Trachtenberg’s family makes decision regarding her autopsy

The day after her death, Michelle Trachtenberg’s family has opted out of an autopsy.

According to ABC 7, the actress’s family objected to the autopsy for “religious reasons.”

The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner did not object to the family’s will because there is no suspicion of foul play.

As reports have revealed, Trachtenberg’s death comes after the 39-year-old actress underwent a liver transplant. Her cause of death will remain undetermined.

As ABC 7 reports Trachtenberg was found dead in her New York City apartment by her mother on Feb. 26.

Trachtenberg did not have any children. According to People, she was last linked romantically to talent agent Jay Cohen.

Trachtenberg began her acting career as a child star on Nickelodeon. Her first major film role was “Harriet the Spy” opposite Rosie O’Donnell.

But perhaps her biggest roles to date include her “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” character Dawn which she played from 2000 to 2003 and her “Gossip Girl” character Georgina Sparks which she played from 2008 to 2012.

Trachtenberg reprised her role as Georgina Sparks for the “Gossip Girl” reboot in 2022.

In a 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Trachtenberg said Sparks was “actually her favorite characters to play.”
