Even though Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley divorced in 2002, he will always have a soft spot in his heart for the late star. According to TMZ’s claim, the actor paid respect to Presley through a statement that was sent by his manager not long after the news emerged on January 12 that Presley had died at the age of 54 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
“This is just heartbreaking information. The heartfelt message that was acquired by CNN included a passage that said in part, “Lisa had the best laugh of anyone I’ve ever met.” “She was the brightest star in the sky, and I am shattered by her passing.”
However, Cage did not stop there. The actor also made a reference to Presley’s late son, Benjamin Keough, who passed away by suicide in the year 2020. This added even more tragedy to the message that Cage was trying to convey. Benjamin was not quite a teenager when Cage married Presley; therefore, one may suppose that he has happy recollections of him as a boy; this causes the remainder of his statement to be all the more tragic. Cage married Presley while Benjamin was not even a teenager.
Nicolas Cage said the following about Lisa Marie Presley’s son in the second portion of the statement he gave to CNN: “I find some peace that she is reunited with her son Benjamin.” Obviously, everybody was aware of how much love Presley had for her one and only child, and they also understood how much she suffered after he passed away.
In May of 2022, she posted a message on Instagram in which she said, “Navigating through this awful anguish that totally wrecked and broke my heart and my soul into virtually nothing has devoured me whole.” Other than my other three children, there isn’t much else that draws my time and attention any more. Riley Keough and her twin sisters Vivienne Ann and Finley Aaron Love Lockwood were also born to Presley as her biological children.
According to an interview that Presley gave to Diane Sawyer of ABC News in 2003, she and Cage kept in touch after their relationship ended, despite the fact that they were no longer together.
She explained that the fact that Cage was unique was one of the things that drew her to him. “I appreciate when someone’s shaking it up,” she added. “I’m not sure why that is. Why did you do it to me? But I can’t help but be drawn to things like that.” In spite of the circumstances, it cannot be denied that they had a close relationship.
