Nightclub Manager Shares What He Saw the Night of Ruby Rose’s Allegation Against Katy Perry

New details have emerged surrounding allegations made by Ruby Rose against Katy Perry, as a former nightclub manager has come forward to describe what he witnessed the night in question nearly two decades ago.

The ex-manager of Melbourne’s now-closed Spice Market nightclub says he was working the night Rose claims the alleged incident occurred. While he described the evening as chaotic, he maintains he did not personally witness any assault.

Speaking in a recent interview, the former manager recalled that both Rose and Perry arrived at the venue together in August 2010, accompanied by a small group.

“They came in together, they were also with Katy’s hair and make-up girl and another guy who was friends with Ruby,” he said.

According to his account, the club was extremely crowded that evening, which created challenges for staff.

“It was a security nightmare because there were 600 people there and Katy kept coming out and dancing with everybody and going right in the middle of the mosh pit,” he explained.

He added that much of their time was spent in a private VIP area within the venue, known as the Genie Bottle.

“They were in the Genie Bottle and having drinks and stuff, but were mainly in there doing their own thing,” he said.

Despite being present that night, the manager said he was unaware of any concerning behavior or reported issues at the time.

“I wasn’t aware of any alleged assault or someone vomiting,” he stated.

He also claimed that while both women had been drinking, neither appeared severely intoxicated.

“They were both drunk,” he said, noting they “weren’t paralytic or anything.”

As the night came to an end, staff reportedly helped them exit discreetly to avoid attention from other patrons.

“Both had way too much to drink,” he alleged. “To avoid people taking photos of them in a state, we organized a car and driver to be waiting outside… We escorted them out the back and up the fire exit and put them in the car together.”

The resurfaced account comes after Rose publicly alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Perry during an outing at the nightclub when she was in her early 20s.

Authorities have since confirmed that the matter is under review. A spokesperson for Victoria Police said, “Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD. As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”

Detectives from a specialized unit are reportedly examining the claims.

In response to the allegations, a representative for Perry firmly denied the claims.

“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies,” the statement read.

The rep also added that Rose has made similar claims in the past that have been disputed.

Rose has stated that she formally reported her experiences to police and is now limiting public commentary as the process unfolds.

“As of this afternoon, I have finalised all my reports… This is a standard request from the police and… quite the relief. I can start the healing process now,” she shared.

She also acknowledged the emotional weight of speaking out, noting it had taken years to do so.

With an active investigation underway and conflicting accounts from those involved, the situation continues to evolve. The nightclub manager’s recollection adds another perspective, but key questions remain unanswered.

As authorities review the case, both public and legal scrutiny is expected to continue in the weeks ahead.
