Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cher in this tragic moments

Cher is one of the very few people in the world who can get by just using their first name. Have you ever pondered the question of where she got her incredible singing voice and commanding stage presence, given the fact that she is undeniably a successful singer? It was given to her by her mother.

Georgia Holt, Cher’s mother, was born in the year 1926 in the state of Arkansas. During the 1950s, she appeared as an actress in a number of films and television shows, including “I Love Lucy” and “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.”

She also recorded an album with the same musicians who played with Elvis Presley in 1980 under the title “Honky Tonk Woman,” but she didn’t release the album until 2013 even though it was recorded at that time.

In 2013, Cher also participated in the making of the documentary “Dear Mom, Love Cher,” which was about her relationship with her mother. The documentary, which was broadcast on Lifetime, told the story of Holt’s life from her childhood all the way up until she became a mother.

Recently, Holt has struggled with a few health issues. During the month of September, Cher revealed on her Instagram account that her mother had been “Sick Off and On” and was battling pneumonia.

Now, Cher has some even more devastating news to share. It is too late to save her mother. She posted the following on Instagram: “Mom has passed away.”

Cher did not specify the reason for her passing in her statement. Her mother had reached the ripe old age of 96.

After hearing the tragic news, a number of people reached out to Cher to express their deepest condolences. On her Twitter account, for instance, Hillary Clinton wrote, “So sad for your loss, my friend. I am thinking about you and sending you all the love in the world.

The tweet from the actress Marg Helgenberger read, “Oh @cher.” I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn about the passing of your cherished mother. You are in my thoughts and prayers. What a wonderful gift it must have been to have her in your life for such a significant portion of it! We pray that she finds eternal peace.

Permit me to pay respect to Holt by taking you back in time to a tender moment shared by Holt’s mother and daughter. A song called “Honky Tonk Woman” from Holt’s CD was performed by the duo during one of their appearances on The Ellen Show. “I’m Just Your Yesterday” was the name of the duet that was performed by the mother and daughter.
