After spending a warm Thanksgiving in Florida, Donald and Melania Trump have returned to Washington. While the President was busying making headlines, Melania kept a low profile, spending quality time with her son, Barron. However, once back on the White House lawn, the First Lady captured everyone’s attention due to her choice of eyewear.

As they stepped off Marine One, under the dark sky, something peculiar sparked discussion on social media. Melania was wearing sunglasses at night, which quickly caught the eye of the online community.
“Navigating steps in stilettos is tricky enough without sunglasses at night. Why is she wearing them? Does she perhaps think she’s Anna Wintour?” quipped one observer.
A Stir on Social Media Over Melania’s Nighttime Sunglasses
The sight of Melania in shades at night led another user to comment, “When she’s not in sunglasses, she’s got a wide-brimmed hat on. Maybe she’s avoiding being noticed or noticing others.”
Some users even revived an old conspiracy theory, joking that it wasn’t Melania herself, but a decoy. Remarks like “Why would the actual Melania wear sunglasses after dark?” circulated online.
One comment joked, “That must be a double if Melania’s wearing sunglasses at night. It’s not the real her,” humorously hinting at Canadian singer Corey Hart’s famous song.
While questions about Melania’s sunglasses choice were rife, others took the opportunity to praise her style.
“Perhaps she skipped eye makeup, not wanting to be seen without it? Personally, I avoid makeup on trips if I might nap to avoid smudging it,” suggested a follower, identifying as liberal.
More on Melania, Christmas, and Style
Another admirer stated, “Melania’s style could fill a coffee table book—her coat, jacket, sunglasses. She’s effortlessly classy.”
With the Christmas season arriving, Melania also welcomed the annual White House Christmas tree, yet her relationship with Christmas preparations has been complex.
Back in 2020, audio leaked by Melania’s ex-advisor, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, revealed her sentiments about the festive duties, captured during the summer of 2018.
Melania expressed frustration, saying, “People say I’m complicit like my husband. Yet, here I am working hard on Christmas decorations, pushed into it by tradition. But they also criticize about children separated at the border. What about when Obama did the same? I worked to reunite children, it’s a process dictated by law.”
What do you make of Melania’s choice to wear her sunglasses at night? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
