Actor Jan Patrick “J.P.” Schwieterman, best known for his role in Nickelodeon’s Good Burger, died on February 28 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri. He was 52 and had been battling stage four cancer.
His brother Chad Schwieterman posted about Jan’s passing in a post on Facebook.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my brother, Jan (JP) Schwieterman. He recently found out he had an aggressive form of stage 4 cancer and passed yesterday evening. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult time.
Rest in peace, brother. We love you and miss you.”
According to the actor’s obituary, he was born on September 30, 1972, in Bluffton, Indiana. Known affectionately by his family and friends as J.P., he was proud of his roots and accomplishments, especially earning the rank of Eagle Scout during his time with the Boy Scouts of America.
After graduating high school, J.P. moved to California to pursue his dream of acting. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Kurt Bozwell, the lead villain and owner of Mondo Burger, in the Nickelodeon film Good Burger. He also appeared in the television series McKenna and ER, and later returned to the screen in the 2007 film Along the Way.
Beyond acting, J.P. had a passion for travel, visiting numerous countries throughout his life, with his most recent adventure taking him to Thailand. A creative spirit, he was a talented photographer and painter, a martial arts enthusiast, and an avid fan of Dungeons & Dragons.
J.P. is survived by his mother, Clara Reed of Hermann, Missouri; his father, LeeRoy Schwieterman of Florence, Arizona; two sisters, Megan and Vanessa; a brother, Chad; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
