“Clem was not just a drummer; he was the heartbeat of Blondie. His talent, energy, and passion for music were unmatched, and his contributions to our sound and success are immeasurable. Beyond his musicianship, Clem was a source of inspiration both on and off the stage. His vibrant spirit, infectious enthusiasm and rock solid work ethic touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.”

Clem Burke, born Clement Anthony Bozewski on November 24, 1954, in Bayonne, New Jersey, was an American drummer best known for his work with the iconic rock band Blondie. He joined Blondie in 1975, shortly after its formation by Debbie Harry and Chris Stein.

According to People, the band disbanded in 1980 after the release of Autoamerican, but reunited more than 15 years later. Burke returned as drummer for their 1999 comeback album No Exit, and continued to play on every subsequent release, including their most recent album, Pollinator, in 2017. He contributed to every record the band released throughout its history.

In recognition of his contributions to music, Burke was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Blondie in 2006.

He has been married to Ellen Burke since 2002.
