Prince Harry ‘Regrets’ Writing About Prince William in Spare

Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, has reportedly put an additional strain on the bond between him and his brother, Prince William.

Growing up, Harry and William shared an exceptionally close relationship. However, this dynamic took a dramatic turn after Harry decided to step back from his royal responsibilities. His departure from Britain was just the beginning of the concerns for the royal family. Further interviews and disclosures about royal life by Harry fueled more discontent within The Firm.

The situation intensified with the release of Harry’s memoir, Spare. Within its pages, Harry wrote about his father, his feelings surrounding the tragic loss of his mother, revealed his thoughts about Camilla, and recounted a heated argument with William.

In one revealing segment, Harry describes being confronted by William, who had derogatorily labeled Meghan as “abrasive,” “rude,” and “difficult.” Harry saw this as his brother mimicking narratives from the press.

An Intense Dispute

Harry detailed an altercation during which William allegedly “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and… knocked me to the floor.” The incident happened quickly, Harry explained. “He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out,” Harry recounted.

The relationship between the brothers is at a notably low point. A mutual acquaintance has suggested that William might exclude Harry from his future coronation, per The Times.

However, royal author Christopher Andersen opines that Harry would indeed be present. “Despite all the bad blood between the brothers, I’m convinced that, when the time does come, William will not be foolish enough to exclude his only sibling, now fifth in line to the throne, from his coronation,” Andersen conveyed to Fox.

He continued, “Things probably have never been worse between the brothers than they are now. William and Charles seem to have jointly decided to distance Harry from their lives, at least for now. There’s no reconciliation in sight, and everyone seems resigned to this fact.”

“That being said, it’s important to remember that William is shouldering a significant psychological weight at the moment,” Andersen added. “He is deeply troubled by his wife and father both facing cancer simultaneously. He must maintain a brave facade for his three young children and for the monarchy’s sake.”

Reflection and Regret

Realizing his contributions to the deterioration of their relationship, Harry regrets his decision to write about William and his family in Spare.

“Although Harry is glad he finally got his say on everything that went on with Spare, there is part of him that has some regrets over it all and the way it was handled,” a source shared with The Mirror.

“He was very upset about his treatment by his family and thought the book was his only recourse to being heard. But now, in hindsight, he’s uncertain if it was the best approach, given the backlash and the hurt he’s caused his family,” the source continued.

“Harry still hopes for reconciliation and believes that by 2025, he might mend things. Much has transpired since Spare’s release, and he hasn’t revised the paperback. Hence, he’s hopeful for a chance to restore ties,” the source explained.

A glimmer of hope appeared on Harry’s 40th birthday when William and Kate sent their best wishes via social media. Many saw this gesture as a possible step towards reconciliation.
