Prince Louis has frequently captured public attention whenever he steps out with his family for royal events. At just seven years old, he’s the youngest child of Prince William and Princess Catherine, and he’s already made quite an impression with his charming antics. During a recent outing on VE Day, it became apparent that there’s more to his behavior this time, hinting at a possible new role within the royal family, according to a body language expert.

As the youngest of Prince William and Kate’s three children, Louis is unlikely to ascend to the throne, with his father, brother Prince George, and sister Princess Charlotte ahead in the line of succession. This has led to conversations about what path Louis might chart as he grows up.
Prince Harry, in his book, expressed concerns that Louis might end up as a “spare,” a position that comes with its own challenges. However, commentary suggests that William and Kate are determined to carve a different path for Louis, even considering letting him pursue a civilian career instead of solely royal duties.
Royal expert Jennie Bond shared with the Mirror that the Prince and Princess of Wales are well aware of the potential pitfalls of being labeled a “spare,” which could affect both Louis and Charlotte.
Bond mentioned, “They’ve already demonstrated a modern approach to raising their royal children, ensuring that Charlotte and Louis feel as special, loved, and valued as George.”
A Look at Prince Louis
April 23 marked another year for Louis, now at seven. As is tradition, Kate released a fresh portrait and video of her young son. Phil Dampier, a royal author, shared optimistic predictions for Louis’s future with Hello! Magazine.
Dampier observed, “So far, Prince Louis has been the spirited baby of the family, often seen pulling faces and getting playful nudges from his siblings, particularly his sister Charlotte. But there’s no doubt in his confidence and lively nature. He seems to have inherited some of the most admirable traits from his grandfather Michael Middleton and the late Duke of Edinburgh.”
Dampier speculated that Louis might follow his father into the armed forces, a path where he might excel. He suggested, “I can picture him thriving in the armed forces as he gets older, enjoying every aspect of it.”
At a recent VE Day celebration in May, Louis once again drew all eyes on him. This time, he charmed observers by mimicking his brother George, adjusting his hair and exuding warmth throughout the event.
A New Role for Young Louis?
In an analysis for The Sun, body language expert Judi James shared her observations on Louis’s emerging role within the family. She implied that Louis might be stepping into a “prefect” role, something of a guide within the royal children group.
Judi explained, “Previously, William and Kate guided and coached their little ones for public appearances. Then, Charlotte took over, ensuring her brothers portrayed the right demeanor and helping keep Louis’s lively energy in check. Now, it looks as though Louis is stepping up and asserting a ‘family prefect’ role himself.”
James further interpreted that Louis’s gestures indicate how heโs adapting to his potential as a future working royal. When revisiting the palace, she noted Louis made a bold move.
“While William, Kate, George, and Charlotte stood back with Charles and Princess Anne, Louis confidently stepped forward, engaging Princess Anne in conversation, showing he is finding his own place in the Royal Family,” Judi described.
Surprising Behavior During VE Day
While Charlotte has been known to keep her brothers in line previously, things took a turn this time around. During the 80th anniversary of VE Day airshow, Louis took it upon himself to correct George’s stance.
Judi recounted, “Anne gently reminded her brother to pay attention, which threw a spotlight on Louis’s immediate reaction. This behavior was a surprising and complete turnover of royal pecking order.”
In the scene, Louis instinctively stood at attention, observing George who still had his hands clasped, insisting he straighten up. This marks a shift, as previously it was Charlotte ensuring George’s posture was correct, now itโs her younger brother assuming the role.”
Do you see Prince Louis as a future working member of the Royal Family, or do you think he’ll take a different path? Feel free to share your thoughts!
