Despite his reservations, William wanted to keep his opinions private. Why so? An insider revealed that he “desperately wanted her to be happy and understood the enormous change involved in joining the Royal Family.”

On the Royal Confidential Podcast, it was mentioned how a tense moment arose when backstage, Meghan asked to borrow Kate’s lip gloss—a request that seemed unusual and left Kate surprised. Although she did oblige, it was said Kate grimaced at the way Meghan used the gloss.
In a speech that followed, William appeared to gently criticize Meghan. The Duchess had openly supported female empowerment, advocating for the Me Too and Times Up movements, which were noble but politically sensitive initiatives for a royal endorsement.
Richard Eden speculated that when William said, “The task for us would not be to reinvent the wheel,” in his address, it could have been a subtle message directed towards Meghan.

It’s widely believed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t likely to return to the royal fold soon. Their ties with the Royal Family appear irreparably damaged, and from all accounts, it seems unlikely that Prince William will be able to mend fences with Harry.
While there are rumors about Harry being open to returning to the UK – with some speculating he has looked into having a home there again – Meghan seems less interested in the prospect.
Nevertheless, given Donald Trump’s threats of deportation if Harry is found to have misrepresented himself on his visa application, the couple is said to be considering a backup plan. They have recently bought a home in Portugal, which could serve as an alternative if residing in the United States becomes untenable.
