An emotional eulogy was delivered by Priscilla Presley on the occasion of her daughter Lisa Marie Presley’s memorial service held at Graceland on January 22, 2023. The service was held in memory of Lisa Marie Presley.
The actress, who is 77 years old, ascended the stage and started out by reading something that her granddaughter had written for everyone in the audience. She then proceeded to read the following: “I do not know how to put my mother into words.” In point of fact, there are far too many. Mama was my icon, my role model, and my superhero in more ways than one. Lisa Marie Presley was an icon, a role model, and a superhero for many people all over the world, but for me, Mama was all of those things and more.
Priscilla continued reading and added, “Even today, I am not capable of conveying everything there is to understand or know about her; yet, as she has always stated, I will do my best.”
After that, she recited an excerpt from a poem titled “The Old Soul,” which was written on the life of Lisa Marie.
“She was born exhausted, vulnerable, and powerful all at the same time in the year 1968. She had a fragile appearance, but she radiated vitality. Priscilla repeated that the woman had known all along that her time in this place would be brief.
Within the confines of the poem, Priscilla alludes to the fact that the anguish of her broken heart was ultimately what led to her demise.
“She was aware that the time was running out. Some people would argue that she died of survivor’s guilt, but the truth is that she died of a broken heart. Priscilla Presley shared that although Lisa Marie has returned to the place where she has always belonged, “my heart is missing her affection.”
Priscilla added that “our heart is broken” in response to the news. “Lisa, you have our undivided love.”
The body of Lisa Marie is laid to rest next to that of her son Benjamin, who committed suicide in the year 2020 at the age of 27.
Family members such as Priscilla, Lisa Marie’s daughter Riley Keough, half-brother Navarone Garcia, ex-husband Michael Lockwood, their 14-year-old twin daughters Finley and Harper, and the girlfriend of the deceased son Benjamin were present during the public service.
After being brought to a hospital in Los Angeles on January 12, 2023 for what was suspected to be a heart attack, Lisa Marie passed away at the age of 54.
