Ben Rathbun, best known for his appearance on Season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, has died at the age of 55, according to TMZ.
Rathbun passed away on Monday, May 19, at his home in Greencastle, Indiana. The outlet reports he had been privately battling stage 4 stomach cancer since late 2024.

Rathbun appeared on the TLC reality series alongside then-girlfriend Mahogany Roca, where their complicated long-distance relationship drew widespread attention from fans.
During Season 5 of Before the 90 Days, Ben Rathbun—then 52 and a divorced father of four—connected online with Mahogany Roca, a woman from Peru. However, concerns arose among Rathbun’s family and fans, as Roca repeatedly declined video calls, sparking fears he was being catfished. Despite the skepticism, the two eventually met in person in Peru and went on to marry.

“Our civil ceremony was just brilliant, I could not believe how beautiful it was,” Rathbun said per In Touch. “But we are still planning on having a religious ceremony.”
At the time, Rathbun admitted that despite tying the knot, he and Mahogany were still working on building trust in their relationship. “We’re just going through a really difficult transition,” he said. “I’ve gone about six months without a solid job, and the bills have been piling up.” He added that finances were especially tight and he was doing everything he could to cover expenses and save for another trip to Peru.
The couple had shared details of their engagement in a YouTube vlog posted in August 2022 — just months after Rathbun was arrested in March of that year for failing to appear at a probation violation hearing.
Per court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Rathbun was initially arrested in 2020 for operating a vehicle while under the influence and driving with a suspended license. In January 2021, he was sentenced to 18 months of probation. However, after failing to appear at a probation violation hearing in February 2022, a judge issued a bench warrant, leading to his arrest the following month.
Rathbun explained that he missed the court summons because he had moved to a different state, and the notice was sent to his previous address.
