K-Pop Star Dies Tragically At Age 25

Moonbin, born Moon Bin, had been a member of the K-Pop group ASTRO since 2016. He was also a member of the group Moonbin & Sanha.

On Wednesday April 19, 2023, Moonbin was found dead in his home in Seoul. According to a statement from the police, his death was due to suicide. No specifics surrounding how he died have been released. He was only 25 years old.

ASTRO’s label, Fantiago, posted a statement about Moonbin’s death on social media. A translation of the statement from Korean to English explains, “On April 19 ASTRO member Moon Bin suddenly left us and became a star in the sky.” The statement continues, “ASTRO members, Fantiago colleagues, and executives and employees are deeply mourning the deceased in such great sadness and shock.”

According to the the statement, the funeral will only be open to close family, friends and colleagues.

Upon hearing the news of Moonbin’s death, many fans commented on the post sharing their shock and sadness.

Moonbin started his career doing modeling and acting during his childhood. In 2016, he joined ASTRO which released three albums, the most recent in 2022 titled “A Drive to the Starry Road.” The subgroup Moonbin & Sanha released three additional EPs.

Moonbin is survived by his family including his sister Moon Sua who is a member of the K-Pop group Billie.
