A Surprising Nickname for Meghan Markle
In 2022, Meghan Markle, alongside her husband Prince Harry, teamed up with Spotify for a podcast series called “Archetypes.” The idea was to dive into the diverse experiences and stories of individuals with unique narratives.
But by the time 2023 rolled in, just less than a year since the podcast was launched, the couple’s production company decided to end their relationship with the platform. It was a bit of a surprise for fans and followers of the couple.
While the reasons for this decision weren’t abundantly clear, both Spotify and the Sussexes’ Archewell Audio confirmed it was a mutual decision through a shared statement. No hard feelings, it appeared.
However, after leaving Archetypes, some interesting revelations emerged. UK royal writer Neil Sean shared with Fox News Digital that staff who once worked on Meghan’s podcast had a covert way to refer to her. Apparently, over the years, Meghan has faced a fair share of unkind online allegations.
“Some past coworkers told me they bestowed upon her the nickname ‘Eva.’ This term served as a signal, a sort of caution to others, either heralding her arrival or indicating she was in a feisty mood,” Sean explained.
The name ‘Eva’ was far from a term of endearment. It referred to the 1955 movie “Queen Bee,” where Joan Crawford portrayed Eva Phillips, a character known for her sting. There seems to have been a parallel drawn with Meghan.
The staff reportedly felt like they were dealing with someone as formidable as the movie character. It was less about any liking and more of a reflection of the challenging nature of their interactions with Meghan.
Unaware of Her Nickname
Interestingly, Sean mentioned that Meghan was completely unaware of this nickname. It lived behind the scenes, murmured among those working on her team during the podcast days.
He further spoke about what supposedly transpired behind closed doors, conveying that, “There were many anecdotes that didn’t make it to the public.”
“Representatives found working with Meghan to be somewhat tiresome due to her unpredictable mood swings. There was also her professional trajectory that seemed to cause friction. Her assertiveness led them to liken her to the character from the movie. She was dramatic, seemingly without realizing it,” Sean elaborated.
Another point that surfaced was Meghan’s preference for liaising directly with top-tier personnel. Sources noted how she often requested to talk only to the top executives, implying her royal background often mediated her interactions.
“Whenever the decision-makers weren’t present, colleagues had to keep in mind that they were interacting not just with a duchess but a British royal family member,” Sean relayed.
“Initially, people were quite charmed by Meghan’s aura. Over time, however, it seems that her demands and expectations began to wear thin on those around her – perhaps a departure from her early acting career hardships,” Sean added.
