Royal family makes surprising 11-word Instagram post on Prince Harry’s 40th birthday

On Sept. 15, Prince Harry turned 40 years old.

And in a surprising move, the royal family took a few moments to publicly wish the prince a happy birthday.

The well-wishes comes after Harry and Meghan Markle made the decision to leave the royal family as working members and move to California in 2020.

Since then, and the release of Harry’s memoir, news of Harry’s relationship with his dad, King Charles, and older brother Prince William hasn’t been good.

But are things now turning a corner?

Fans are left wondering that very question as the birthday message feels to them like an olive branch.

“Wow haven’t seen him on here in forever!! Could there be a reconcile coming,” a fan shared in the comment section.

“That’s very gracious of them, classy and kind,” a commenter wrote under the post.

“There hasn’t been a post like this in years towards Harry. So nice to see,” shared another fan.

Prince William and Princess Catherine also shared the birthday post on their story, writing, “Wishing a Happy 40th Birthday to The Duke of Sussex.”

On Aug. 4, Harry’s wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, celebrated her 43rd birthday. However, the royal family did not share a public birthday message to her.

In a statement shared with People just days before his birthday, the prince revealed that he will be ringing in his 4th decade with his family.

“The best gift I’ve ever been given is, without doubt, my kids. I enjoy watching them grow every single day and love being their dad,” Harry said.

On Sept. 13, he told the BBC, “I was anxious about 30, I’m excited about 40. Whatever the age, my mission is to continue showing up and doing good in the world.”
