The cause of death of Royal Family member Thomas Kingston has been disclosed following his discovery unresponsive in a residence in Gloucestershire.
Thomas Kingston, a British financier, who wed Lady Gabriella Windsor in May 2019, tragically passed away at the age of 45 in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire.
Lady Gabriella, the 42-year-old director of Devonport Capital, is the daughter of Prince Michael of Kent, a first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The couple exchanged vows at St George’s Chapel, with Queen Elizabeth II in attendance before her passing in September 2022. Thomas Kingston shared a close friendship with Pippa Middleton, sister of Princess Catherine, and was frequently spotted with her. He also attended Pippa’s wedding to James Matthews in May 2017, accompanied by Lady Gabriella.
The Guardian reports that Kingston’s cause of death was a traumatic head wound. During the investigation into his sudden demise, a firearm was discovered near his body in an outbuilding at his parents’ estate in the Cotswolds, according to an inquest opening at Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court.
Buckingham Palace released a statement on Tuesday evening (February 27), confirming Mr Kingston’s death at a Gloucestershire address on Sunday (February 25). Emergency services responded to the scene shortly after 6pm.
Authorities have ruled out any suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragedy and have confirmed no involvement of third parties. A spokesperson for Gloucester Ambulance Service stated that they attended a private residence in the Cirencester area.
During the opening of the inquest at Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court, senior coroner Katy Skerrett provided details of the incident, including Mr Kingston’s last moments. A post mortem conducted by Dr. Jones revealed the provisional cause of death as a traumatic head wound. With the identification and initial cause of death confirmed, the inquest was formally opened and adjourned.
