Sadie Robertson, the mother of 4-month-old daughter Honey, says, “Watching her little struggle leads me to tears like I have never cried, but witnessing her courage has given me smiles I have never grinned.”
Sadie Robertson is talking openly about some trying times she had with her daughter.
The 24-year-old Duck Dynasty alum disclosed on Friday that her 4-month-old baby Honey James is ill with a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and appears to be in the hospital in a frank Instagram post.
The new mother captions a picture of herself holding her infant daughter in a hospital bed with the statement, “So many around the world are going through this. I wanted to share my story with my followers.”
“The last several days have been quite difficult. One of the most heartbreaking things is to watch your child struggle with illness. While witnessing her resilience has made me smile as I’ve never smiled before, seeing her little struggle has brought me to tears like I’ve never been in tears “She writes about the daughter she and her husband Christian Huff have. “I have an incomparable passion for this girl. Her fierce and kind fighter attitude makes us laugh when we really want to cry.”
“A dark room has been made brighter by the nurse’s and physicians’ love for her and their amusement at her foolishness despite her illness. Although it is unfortunate that it isn’t done yet, we have hope for the days ahead “She goes on. “To all the parents out there who are grieving as they watch their child suffer from illness, I understand.”
She continues the message by saying, “I’m so thankful for our friends and family believing this with us,” and she adds, “RSV you stink.”
RSV is a typical respiratory virus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and it frequently results in symptoms similar to a cold. By the time they turn two, almost all children have suffered an RSV illness. Infants are particularly susceptible to the virus.
Many of Robertson’s mommy friends offered prayers and encouragement in their comments on the post.
“Poor little child! We are fervently praying for you and your entire family! Witney Carson remarked, “Sick babies literally crush my heart, and Lauren Bushnell Lane added, “Sending so many prayers your way”
“Oh, Sadie I have no idea how challenging this has been for you all. I’m sending you and Honey my prayers “Lindsay Arnold answered.
Earlier this week, Robertson and Bindi Irwin, another new mother, engaged in a wide-ranging talk on Facebook Live Audio where they discussed the major lessons they’ve learned from being parents.
Irwin discussed how “With a baby, “everything clicks into place,” and “the amount of love you may have in your heart is beyond explanation.” It’s almost as though your heart expands to accommodate this quantity of love.”
It’s such a selfless affection, Robertson continued. “With your child, it’s as though they are everything to you even though they can do nothing for you. You can’t give me anything, but by just being who you are, you have already given me everything. That in and of itself, in my opinion, is just a kind of love that you’ve never had before because it has nothing to do with what they can or cannot accomplish; it’s just about who they are.”
She reflected, “You simply love who they are, and you’re so proud of who they are.”
