Sharon Stone’s Family Devastated By Heartbreaking Loss

Sharon Stone is mourning the loss of her older brother, Michael “Mike” Stone, who has died at the age of 74.

The Oscar-nominated actress shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram Wednesday, writing, “Mike Stone, my oldest brother, has passed away,” adding that he died following an extended illness.

Sharon Stone rose to fame as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars in the 1990s, best known for films including Basic InstinctCasino, and Total Recall. She earned an Academy Award nomination for her role in Casino and has remained a prominent figure in film, television, and philanthropy for decades.

Per Page Six, Mike largely stayed out of the public eye throughout his life, though he briefly pursued acting like his famous sister, Sharon Stone. He made his screen debut in the 1990 film End of the Night and later appeared alongside Sharon in the 1995 Western The Quick and the Dead. Though he never married, Mike was briefly engaged to British socialite Tamara Beckwith between 1994 and 1995.

The Stone family has endured multiple tragedies in recent years. Sharon and Mike’s younger brother, Patrick Stone, died in 2023 at the age of 57 after suffering a heart attack. At the time, Sharon shared the devastating news in an emotional Instagram video, thanking fans for their support during what she described as a period of “immeasurable grief.” Patrick’s death came less than two years after the loss of his 11-month-old son, River, who died of organ failure in 2021.

Sharon also has a younger sister, Kelly Stone. The four siblings were raised in Pennsylvania and remained close throughout their lives, a bond Sharon reflected on in her 2021 memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice. Their parents, Dorothy and Joseph Stone, married in 1950 and spent nearly six decades together before Joseph died in 2009 at the age of 79. Dorothy Stone died last year at 91.
