Soap Opera Star Passed Away Suddenly At Age 57

Patrick Muldoon has died at the age of 57.

The actorโ€”best known for his roles in Days of Our Lives, Melrose Place, and Starship Troopersโ€”passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 19, according to reports fromย Deadline.

His death was the result of a heart attack, per Deadline.

Muldoonโ€™s sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, toldย TMZ that the actor had gone to take a shower Sunday morning after having coffee with his girlfriend at their Beverly Hills home.

According to Shana, his girlfriend became concerned when he was taking longer than usual and went to check on him, discovering him unconscious on the bathroom floor. Paramedics responded and attempted to revive him, but were unable to save him.

Following the news, actor Jake Getman paid tribute onย Instagram, sharing a throwback photo of the two attending a red carpet event together.

โ€œRIP Patrick Muldoon. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ,โ€ wrote Getman. โ€œWorked with him when I was 8 on Little Dead Rotting Hood โ€” a great guy and always kept the energy light #gonetoosoon.โ€

Patrick Muldoon was an American actor and musician best known for his work in television and film throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. Born on September 27, 1968, in San Pedro, California, he initially pursued sports and academics, earning a degree in biology from the University of Southern California before transitioning into acting.

Muldoon rose to fame with his breakout role as Austin Reed on the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives, becoming one of the showโ€™s most recognizable stars. His success on daytime television led to prime-time exposure, including a prominent role as Richard Hart on Melrose Place.

He expanded into film with roles in action and sci-fi projects, most notably starring as Zander Barcalow in Starship Troopers, directed by Paul Verhoeven. Over the years, Muldoon built a steady career appearing in a range of television movies, independent films, and guest roles across popular series.
