The mother hurried to the hospital to deliver her baby, and the doctors were taken aback by the baby’s size.

As a parent, it’s natural to believe that your child is unique and different from anyone else’s. You’re convinced that your child is special, and this feeling is shared by all parents.

Chrissy Corbitt, who is 29 years old, understands the feeling of having a special child. Her first two children weighed an astonishing nine and ten pounds, respectively.

Chrissy, who was already a mother of four, believed she had experienced everything there was to know about pregnancy. However, nothing could have prepared her for her final pregnancy. During the early stages of the pregnancy, Chrissy and her doctors suspected that the baby would weigh over nine pounds.

“The size of her belly continued to increase, resembling a large beach ball that was becoming more and more inflated,” says Larry, the baby’s father.

Baby Carleigh, who was delivered via C-section (thankfully!), was born on May 13, 2017, weighing an incredible 13 pounds and 5 ounces. This was a surprise to Chrissy and everyone in the delivery room.

“I heard cheers from everyone in the operating room. I had never experienced that before,” said Chrissy.

Baby Carleigh’s size caused another unexpected challenge as she was too big to fit into the regular newborn clothes that her parents had prepared for her.

The same was true for diapers! Despite having gone through the process four times before and considering themselves pros, Baby Carleigh’s parents were not prepared for her size.

“We ended up donating all the items we had purchased in anticipation of her arrival to a local church,” joked Larry.

When Carleigh was just three weeks old, she was already wearing baby clothes that were meant for a nine-month-old.

While Carleigh’s size was impressive, she was not the largest baby on record. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, a baby born in 1879 weighed a staggering 22 pounds at birth.

Chrissy is proud of her baby girl and says, “Carleigh is a happy baby, always smiling. I can’t get enough of her.”
