A marathon runner and TikToker passed away one hour after finishing Disney’s 2024 Disneyland Halloween Half marathon. He was 33.
Caleb Graves immediately received medical assistance after crossing the finish line at the Disney resort, near Anaheim, California. This happened around 7 a.m. on August 8.
Per Entertainment Weekly, “Sgt. Matt Sutter, a public information officer for the Anaheim Police Department, said Anaheim Fire & Rescue teams immediately provided assistance to Graves at the end of the course.”
“The runner crossed the finish line. As soon as he did, one of the workers at the marathon noticed the gentleman was clutching his chest,” Sutter told EW. “They noticed he was going into cardiac arrest.” They quickly transported Graves to the Anaheim Global Medical Center. Approximately, one hour later, he was pronounced dead.
The race started sometime after 5 a.m. and Graves finished around 7 a.m. so his race time was less than 2 hours during a Southern California record breaking heat wave.
Disneyland Resort spokesperson , Jessica Good said in a statement, “We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss, and our hearts are with Caleb’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
In a TikTok video posted the day before his death, Graves shared that he had passed out from heat exhaustion while walking his dog. “I really hope I get through the race tomorrow morning,” he said at the end of the clip. The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department is still investigating Graves’ cause of death.
The Vlogger received a law degree and was working as a litigation associate at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati. Graves was also a well-known figure in the Disney vlogging community. He had gained nearly 18,000 followers on TikTok, where he primarily posted content about Disneyland.
Rest in Peace.
