Tina’s Cause of Death Revealed

On May 24th, 2023, singer Tina Turner died at the age of 83. She was at her home in Switzerland at the time of her death. When her passing was announcing on her Instagram account, there was no mention about a cause of death.

Now, two days after her death, we know more about what happened. Her publicist, Bernard Doherty, told NBC News that Turner’s death followed “a long illness.” He did not specify what the illness was or if it was the cause of her death.

Meanwhile, two days after her death, Turner’s representative told the Daily Mail that Turner’s cause of death was natural causes; however, she suffered from multiple illnesses over the past few years. She had high blood pressure for more than 40 years, and she also had been previously diagnosed with intestinal cancer. Turner suffered from high blood pressure since 1978, and she was diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016. No word on if intestinal cancer was what her publicist meant by a “long illness” or not.

In her memoir, Turner opened up about the fact that in 2016 she considered assisted suicide because of the damage to her kidneys. Thankfully, one year later, in 2017, her husband, Erwin Bach, donated a kidney to her.

On April 6, 2023, The Guardian interviewed Turner. This is believed to be her very last interview. During the interview, she was asked how she wanted to be remembered. She answered, “As the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll. As a woman who showed other women that it is OK to strive for success on their own terms.” She added that she isn’t afraid of anything, “and I embrace and accept every day with what it brings.”

Turner is survived by Bach as well as two of her sons. Her other two sons died previously.

Rest in peace.
