‘Today’ Host Al Roker Is a Grandpa for the First Time – Baby’s ‘Cute’ Name & Gender Revealed

“Today” weatherman Al Roker has become a grandpa for the first time. His eldest daughter, Courtney Roker, and her husband, Wesley Laga, welcomed their first baby together on Monday.

A delighted Al announced the amazing and joyful news to his fellow “Today” co-hosts on Tuesday morning and reported that the mother and baby are doing well and that the entire family is absolutely thrilled over the adorable new addition to their family.

Courtney and Wesley tied the knot back in 2021 and announced their pregnancy in March of this year. Wesley is a drama teacher, and Courtney is a recipe developer and test kitchen manager.

The “Today” crew broke the news via Twitter and congratulated Al, his daughter, and her husband. In the Twitter video, it was announced:

“Al Roker is a grandpa! His daughter Courtney and her husband, Wesley, welcomed a baby girl yesterday. Congrats to @alroker and his family!”

The baby girl’s name was revealed during “Today” co-host Hoda Kotb’s Morning Boost segment. The baby’s name is Sky Clara Laga. Reacting to the name, “Today” correspondent Sheinelle Jones gushed:

“That’s really cute that his first grandchild’s name is Sky. How cute is that?”

In addition to the congratulatory wishes and celebrations, Al’s colleagues also played a past clip of him talking about how excited he was while preparing to become a grandpa. First-time mom Courtney told “Today” how excited she and Wesley are to have had baby Sky.
