In a new interview with Men’s Health, actor Tom Holland revealed when and why he will retire from acting forever.
The 28-year-old “Spider-Man” star, who is currently dating his “Spider-Man” co-star Zendaya, told the magazine that once he becomes a father, he will call it quits for good.
“When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore,” Holland told Men’s Health.
“Golf and dad,” he added. “And I will just disappear off the face of the earth.”
And this isn’t the first time Holland has made such statements.
While talking with Total Film in 2021, he said, “I might go and be a carpenter for two years, and take a big break, and come back. Or I might not come back., I might go away, and get married, and have kids, and just disappear for the rest of my life,” according to Teen Vogue.
Holland burst onto the Hollywood scene 12 years ago when he starred alongside Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor in “The Impossible.”
He has gone on to become one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, becoming an integral part of the “Avengers” franchise after first starring as Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War” in 2016.
And in past interviews since, Holland has been open about what he hopes his future will look like. He once told Access that he would “of course” settle down at a young age if the opportunity presented itself in 2021.
“I love romance, and you know, I look back at the times I was in love, and they’re the happiest of my life,” Holland shared. “And, you know, I’m in no rush — I am 24. But then again, if it happens, it happens.”
Around the same time, Holland and Zendaya’s relationship had been made public.
In December 2021, while talking with People, Holland said he loves “kids. I can’t wait to be a dad — I can wait and I will, but I can’t wait.”
“If I’m at a wedding or a party, I’m always at the kids’ table hanging out. My dad’s been such a great role model for me. I think I’ve got that from him. So I think I’d be a primary school teacher or something like that.”
