The toddlers were found by their ‘distraught’ mother, who performed CPR until emergency services arrived.
Two 18-month-old toddlers have drowned in a suburban swimming pool in what police called a “tragic accident”.
The Oklahoma toddlers, Locklyn and Loreli Callazzo, were found at the bottom of the pool by their mother on Thursday March 16 at 10.45am.
Police told an Oklahoma news outlet that the incident appears to be a tragic accident.
The twins’ mother Jenny Callazzo found them in the pool and pulled them out.
She performed CPR until emergency services arrived on scene.
Locklyn and Loreli were transported to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
A relative of the family has claimed that the back door was left open by a relative with Alzheimer’s, understood to be the twins’ grandmother.
Multiple outlets have reported that the toddlers’ grandmother lives at the home with their parents and four siblings.
“It’s certainly disturbing,” neighbor Mike Bernard told News 4.
“My prayers go out to that family because little children are precious.”
Bernard witnessed the emergency situation unfold.
“They brought out two little children and put them in separate ambulances,” he said. “And they were doing CPR on both little children.
“I saw the mother who was distraught, who got in an EMS vehicle.”
A GoFundMe has been created to support the family.
“These beautiful babies were taken from us too soon,” Godmother Dawn wrote.
“Anything you can give to help with expenses would be greatly appreciated.
“We appreciate everyone’s love and support.”
