Update-Missing ‘Virgin River’ Star Found Dead

Update-The remains of missing television actor Stewart McLean were identified just one day after Canadian authorities announced they believed he may have been the victim of a homicide.

According to a media release shared with PEOPLE on Friday, May 22, Canada’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) confirmed that McLean’s remains were found in the Lions Bay area of British Columbia.

McLean, 45, was last seen at his home in Lions Bay on Friday, May 15. The Squamish Royal Canadian Mounted Police received a missing persons report three days later, on Monday, May 18.

Investigators previously said McLean’s disappearance was being treated as a possible homicide, though authorities noted they believe the case to be “an isolated incident.”
