Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky Have ‘Separated’ After 27 Years of Marriage (Exclusive)

Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky have decided to end their 27-year marriage, according to a source close to the couple. Despite their separation, they are currently still living together and maintaining an amicable relationship as they navigate the next steps for themselves and their family.

The pair first crossed paths at a nightclub in 1994 when Richards, then divorced from her first husband Guraish Aldjufrie, had a chance encounter with Umansky. They got engaged later that year and exchanged vows in January 1996. Over the course of their marriage, they welcomed three daughters named Alexia, Sophia, and Portia, who are now 27, 23, and 15 years old, respectively.

In 2010, the couple and their family became a fixture on the reality show “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” which premiered on Bravo. Throughout the show’s 12 seasons, Richards and Umansky consistently emphasized that their portrayal on the show reflected their authentic relationship.

Umansky expressed their commitment to transparency, stating in a 2013 interview with PEOPLE, “We’re the same, with or without cameras. We’re just super real and we know each other and we’re real… We don’t have any secrets to hide. That’s one thing we talked about, the skeletons in the closet, and we can handle our worst skeletons.”

Umansky stood by Richards’ side during the on-screen family drama, particularly during the 12th season. He expressed unwavering support for her, even in her relationships with her sister Kathy Hilton, saying, “I have always just been 100 percent supportive of her, no matter what she does… If she wants to reconcile, I am all down for it. If she’s not ready to reconcile and she needs to just keep it going for a little bit, I support her a thousand percent.”

Despite the recent news of their separation, just two years ago, on their 25th wedding anniversary, Richards and Umansky appeared to be content and proud of their enduring marriage. They regarded it as one of their greatest accomplishments and cherished their role as positive role models for their daughters.

The decision to divorce follows rumors surrounding the couple’s relationship when Richards was photographed without her wedding ring. Umansky vehemently denied the rumors and dismissed them as baseless. He clarified their status in an episode of the podcast “Two T’s In a Pod,” assuring listeners that they were not getting divorced and that the story had been blown out of proportion.

Fans of the couple will have the opportunity to witness their handling of the rumors directly in the upcoming season of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” The exact release date for season 13 has not yet been announced, but fans can catch up on the first 12 seasons by streaming them on Peacock.
