Oprah Hospitalized And Forced To Miss Scheduled TV Appearance

On June 11, 2024, Oprah Winfrey was scheduled to appear on the TV show “CBS Mornings” where her best friend, Gail King, is a cohost. Unfortunately, Winfrey didn’t show up for the TV appearance.

In her absence, King explained why Winfrey was missing. It wasn’t that she was flaking on the TV spot. It was more serious than that.

King shared the her BFF has actually been hospitalized for dehydration. She explained, “She had some kind of stomach thing — stomach flu — stuff was coming out of both ends. I won’t get too graphic. Needless to say, she ended up in the hospital, dehydration, had to get an IV.”

While Winfrey’s health situation “was a very serious thing,” King emphasized that “she will be okay.” Her doctor ordered her to rest, so that is why she was not present for the TV appearance.

Deadline reports that the reason Winfrey had been scheduled to appear on “CBS Mornings” was so that she could announce her latest book club book. The book is called “Familiaris” and is written by author David Wroblewski.

Winfrey explained more about the book and why she chose the book on Instagram. She wrote, “Many of you might recognize the author’s name because he wrote my 2008 book club pick, ‘The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.’ Now David has written a follow up to that epic novel with the origin story of the Sawtelle family and the legendary dogs they became famous for.”

Winfrey described the book as a “riveting family saga.” She added that the story is an “extraordinary journey that brilliantly interweaves history, philosophy, adventure, and mysticism to explore the meaning of love, friendship and living your life’s true purpose.”

According to Winfrey, you don’t need to read “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle” in order to enjoy and understand “Familiaris.” However, she believes that if you haven’t already read the first book, you’ll want to read it after reading the sequel.

Do you think Winfrey will be upset with King for sharing details about her health situation on “CBS Mornings”?
