Following the news of Jeff Beck’s passing on Wednesday, a number of celebrities, including Keith Urban, took to social media to pay their respects.
The Australian country music diva took to Instagram shortly after the news was broken to post a moving memorial letter to the deceased musician, along with a personal anecdote about the time she had the opportunity to spend time with him.
Keith commented, “When I heard that Jeff Beck had ‘portalled into the next realm,’ I was both astonished and saddened by the news.” It is hard to define or describe his talent, his music, or his ART, or to attempt to quantify the impact that he has had not just on guitarists, but also on other types of artists, singers, and music lovers all around the world.
“He’s undoubtedly one of the few faces on the Mt. Rushmore of guitar players, and I am SO grateful to my buddy Scott Bradoka for inviting me to come watch Jeff play last September. He’s one of the few faces on the Mt. Rushmore of guitar players.
“We stood off to the side of the stage with Billy Gibbons and watched Jeff cast the spell that only he could with nothing more than a Strat, some pedals, a couple of amps, and what can only be described as his “otherworldly talent.”
“God bless you Jeff. I am grateful for the brightness you provide. Rest in peace, brother.
After learning of Jeff Beck’s passing, Keith Urban delivered a moving eulogy for his friend.
On the post, followers were quick to leave comments, with one of them commenting, “Very wonderfully said. He was without a doubt one of the greats,” a second person said, while a third said, “Thank you for the lovely appreciation.” I was raised on Jeff Beck’s music and have always admired him. A third person followed up by saying, “I’m sorry for your loss.”
During this trying moment, Keith’s wife Nicole Kidman will undoubtedly be there for him to provide support and comfort. After a period of time apart caused by the demands of their respective jobs, the pair met up again in Australia right before Christmas.
While Keith had been performing across the United States as part of his Speed of Now tour, Nicole had been working in Hong Kong.
Photos shot at Sydney airport showed the couple smiling broadly and appearing overjoyed to be reunited. Their kids Sunday and Faith were also present at the airport at the same time as their parents.
