Rod Stewart’s wife experienced grief when she “thought her baby had gone.”

Penny Lancaster, 51, and Rod Stewart, 77, first met at a party in 1999, and their affair quickly took off after she began taking photos of him while he was on tour. When Rod proposed to Penny in 2005, she found out she was expecting their first child.

Alastair, who is now 17 years old, was born that same November. Soon, Penny and Rod yearned for a second child.

However, after two years of attempting to conceive naturally, the couple decided to seek medical assistance.

After three “grueling” rounds of IVF treatment, Penny eventually conceived her second child in 2010.

But despite all of her efforts, she eventually learned the sad news that completely devastated her world.

Louise, Penny’s sister-in-law, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer at the young age of 36.

When physicians discovered two tumors and impacted lymph nodes, they immediately recommended a mastectomy for Louise, who is married to Penny’s brother Oliver.

Penny was shocked by the news, especially considering that she had lost her friend Maria Falco to the illness in 2005.

Penny discussed the impact Louise’s illness had on her in a 2010 interview.

Because of how desperately Alastair, who was four at the time, desired a younger brother or sister, their delight over the newborn was even greater.

“Alastair’s cries of ‘Mummy, I really, really, really want a baby!’ kind of kept me on the track to keep going,” the model stated.

“I did declare that I’d stop at 40, that I’d see how fortunate I am, that we have Alastair, and end the pursuit.

But happily, our dream came true, and everything is well now.

Additionally, Rod has six kids from prior partnerships.

Sarah Streeter, his first child, was born in 1963 and is now 59 years old. Following his 1979 marriage to Alana Stewart, the couple welcomed Kimberly, 43, and Sean, 42.

The rock star then started dating the model Kelly Emberg, and in 1987, they gave birth to Ruby, who is now 35 years old.

Rod got engaged for the second time three years later. This time to model Rachel Hunter, who was born in New Zealand.

They had two children: Renée, 30; and Liam, 28.
