After being married to Christine Baumgartner for 18 years, Kevin Costner was reportedly “stunned” and caught off guard when she filed for divorce.
The shocking information was released to the media earlier this week when Baumgartner filed papers on Monday, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Costner’s spokesperson issued a statement that said: “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.”

In 2004, Costner and Baumgartner got hitched. Grace, 12, Cayden, 15, and Hayes, 14, are the couple’s only children. In the event of a divorce, Costner and Baumgartner are reportedly asking for joint custody of their kids.
