Less than a day after being discharged from the hospital, Al Roker was reportedly transported back to the hospital in a hurry on Friday, November 25 after experiencing a health scare related to blood clots.
The day after Thanksgiving, sources told Page Six, Al, 68, was transported to the hospital as his wife Deborah Roberts tried to get her phone out of her car so they could go together.
Al’s absence from Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade—his first from performance in 27 years—led to the hospital stay.

Deborah then took a taxi to the hospital with her daughter, where Al has been waiting for them ever since.

He wrote to followers to explain why he hadn’t been on Today: “After some medical whack-a-mole, I am very blessed to be getting fantastic medical care and on the road to recovery.

Hoda Kotb gave an uplifting message and pointed out that this was the first time in nearly 30 years that he had gone missing.
“As many of you have heard, Al is healing from a recent medical crisis, and he’s recovering extremely well. We only want to express our affection for Al. I wonder if you’re watching, but we want to wish you a speedy recovery.”
Al said on Instagram that he had seen some of the procession and he gave Hoda and Savannah Guthrie a thumbs up.
He also posted a picture of his family, which showed how glad he was to spend the holiday with them. I’m so grateful to be able to spend Thanksgiving dinner at home with my family, he wrote.
